Matagouri Hut

Matagouri Hut

Banks Peninsula

Matagouri Hut is located on Banks Peninsula, just 1 hour and 20-minutes drive from Christchurch City and 5-minutes drive to Akaroa.

The one-room tent-hut hybrid is set high-up in a hidden spot on the property, surrounded by native trees and bush. A short 10-second stroll takes you to a deck platform with an outdoor bath and dining table - perfect for soaking up the glorious Banks Peninsula views.

It's a unique little building - with the roof of the hut in canvas, solid walls forming the sides and large french doors creating a completely-glass sidewall. There is a feeling of being very much part of the natural surrounds.

The interior decor is simple and stylish with a peaceful ambience. The timber and natural colours and textures combine to create a beautiful space to relax.

You'll see and hear lots of native birds including tui, wood pigeons, and bellbirds. Sheep lazily graze on the nearby hillsides.

Matagouri Hut really is the best of both worlds if you're looking for accommodation on Banks Peninsula... A beautiful, restful hideaway - but just 5 minutes from the activities, shops and cafes of Akaroa.
