Hidden Springs

Hidden Springs

Waikino

Hidden Springs is 1 hour and 45 minutes from Central Auckland, 1 hour from Tauranga, and just a 5-minute drive to the town of Waikino.

The cabin is nestled into a 90-ha organic farm, surrounded by native bush, and flanked by two natural springs.

Private and peaceful, the cabin is perfect for couples. A tranquil bedroom contains a king-size bed with large windows out to the views. A stylish kitchen and lounging area and deluxe bathroom complete the interior. Large bi-fold doors open onto a spacious deck - where you can soak up the sunshine and stunning views of Mt Karangahake. When it’s time to relax, grab a glass of bubbles and enjoy a soak in the outdoor stone bath under the star-studded sky.

Hidden Springs is a place to leave your urban life behind. Listen to the tuis from the surrounding trees and the calming sound of the babbling brooks, fed from the natural springs. Relax in the hammock amongst the ferns, or mediate at the tranquil seat found in the ferny resting spot. If you're keen to explore the region, head out to visit the beautiful waterfalls, rivers, and nature walks.

Designed to include everyone, Hidden Springs Cabin has a wheelchair ramp and a kitchen and bathroom that are fully accessible.

If you're wanting to eat out, the Falls Retreat Bistro or the historic Waikino Tavern are great dining options, and both just 5 minutes down the road. Alternatively, head out to Waihi Beach to Flat White, or One3One Restaurant Cafe & Bar or Providence Pantry in Paeroa (20 minutes away).

The nearest store for stocking up on food and supplies is in Waihi, approximately 10 minutes drive away.

  • things to do

With springs, streams, gorgeous native bush to explore and amazing views of Mt Karangehake...you may find you don't want to leave the property! Toast marshmallows by the campfire, soak in the outdoor bath, swing gently in the hammock - or bring out the board games!

If you feel like going for a walk, you can drive 5 minutes to Owharoa Falls or Dickey FlatKarangahake Gorge 10 minutes away (famous for its historic tunnel), or Orokawa Bay bush walk only 30 minutes away.

For keen bikers, try the Hauraki Rail Trail from the Waitawheta Road entry point.

A visit to Waihi Beach or beautiful Whititoa Beach is a great picnic outing on a sunny day!

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Hidden Springs are Mark and Alanna, and their children, Danni and Brayde.

Alanna's family has deep roots in the Karangahake region, with her great-grandfather being a miner. Seeking an escape from city life and a shared love for nature, the family has longed for a place to call their own. Hidden Springs offered the ideal sanctuary for them, allowing them to reconnect with the natural world for rejuvenation and self-reflection. By day, Mark and Alanna manage an engineering company.

Alanna and Mark are pleased to welcome guests to this special place and enjoy sharing it with others seeking rejuvenation and reconnection with the natural world.
