Eating and Drinking
Te Tuhi Hut is self-catering. Just bring your own food, and cook meals using the BBQ and facilities provided in your private camp kitchen. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.
For those that want to completely remove the stress of planning evening meals during their stay, Te Tuhi Hut has partnered with Wild Roots. Wild Roots offer a 5-course gourmet dinner, with 90% of the meal ready to go and waiting for you in your fridge. All you will have to do is finish the cooking of your main course and add the final touches to your entrée and dessert. Wild Roots can also accommodate dietary requirements. To find out more and order please contact Wild Roots directly at www.wildrootsprivatechef.co.nz - or email [email protected]
If you're keen to order a gift basket for a special occasion, The Merchant is a local store that has some fantastic options. Just order with them directly and your host, Emily, can collect it for you. You'll just have to let her know that you need her to collect it when you receive her contact details in your pre-arrival email, 5-days prior to your stay.
If you fancy eating out, Taupo is just a 15-minute drive away, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Coming highly recommended by your hosts is The Store House (cannot go past the fried chicken waffles), Baku on the lakefront and The Vine for fine dining and a wonderful range of wine and craft beer.
Closer to home is A Larte Café (a 5-minute drive away) which features an amazing mosaic garden and homewares store. Finally, nearby Kinloch Store has amazing wood-fired pizzas and fish and chips. Great for casual lakeside picnicking!
