Dusk and Dawn

Dusk and Dawn

Waitakere Ranges, Auckland

***Please note that the swinging egg chairs in the photos have been replaced with adirondack chairs - new photos coming soon***

Dusk and Dawn is located 40 minutes from Auckland City in the Waitakere Ranges.

Nestled 380m above sea level amid beautiful native bush are two stunning geodesic glass domes offering unparalleled views. The vistas overlook Auckland City, extending towards the Rangitoto Volcano, and past the shores of Waiheke, the Little Barrier Islands, and Manukau Harbour. With a dwelling to the rear and a neighbour through the trees, the domes are a less secluded and remote option than many of our other escapes, but still provide that private and restful nature retreat nonetheless.

The domes are 3 metres apart and feature a deck between them adorned with swinging egg chairs. One dome contains a queen bed, while the other is a lounging space with a kitchenette and breakfast bar. A separate bathroom is located a few steps outside. As the sun dips below the horizon, witness the magical transformation of the landscape from your elevated vantage point. It is particularly beautiful while soaking in the large spa pool just below the domes.

Enjoy surfing at nearby Piha Beach or exploring the local bush walks, then retreat to your domes to stargaze through the glass ceiling as the Ruru signals nightfall.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Dusk and Dawn are Etienne, Wiona and their two dogs, Dusk and Dawn.

Etienne and Wiona and their three children have lived on the property for almost five years, and only recently relocated. Originally from South Africa, they were drawn to the property for its proximity to nature and stunning views. Etienne works as a Construction Project Manager, while Wiona homeschools the kids. They discovered glamping as a way to enjoy nature with the comforts of home.

The Domes 'Dusk and Dawn' are named after their beloved dogs. The name also perfectly suits the retreat, as it allows guests to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of both sunrise and sunset from within the comfort of its glass surrounds.

Testimonials

  • "

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Dusk and Dawn, making memories. We spent the romantic weekend enjoying the beautiful scenic view of Auckland city. We also loved the spa pool and the fire pit at night. The night view was also fantastic. Overall, I would definitely recommend people for the great scenic experience and living in a dome. The name Dusk and Dawn, although named after the host dogs, really reflects the beautiful scenic view we get during sunrise and sunset.

The domes were AMAZING, the views all round were SPECTACULAR, you would never guess you were still in Auckland. The perfect spot for a romantic getaway, or if you just want to hide away from the busy city for some self care, definitely a place to try. LOVED IT.

Wow! Nothing short of amazing. We didn't get lucky with the weather unfortunately, but even still, the setting was amazing. With the Waitakare mists coming in, it felt like we were the only people in the world. When it cleared up the views were second to none. The facilities are absolutely gorgeous and would gladly stay again. 10/10.
