Eating and Drinking
Top Hut has all the facilities you need to self-cater. Just bring your own food, and cook meals using the chiminea, BBQ or hut kitchen. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need and plenty of sauces, seasonings oils and herbs.
You can stock up on supplies at either Colville or Coromandel. There is a unique community-owned store run by the locals at Colville, with an excellent selection of food and wine. Coromandel town has a large supermarket, and a variety of interesting shops - butcher, bakery, and liquor outlet.
There are several very good restaurants in Coromandel Town, a 35-40 minute drive away, and Colville (close to Coromandel Town) has a friendly little cafe, where the food is very local, homemade and delicious. Good coffee, good ice cream and the farm's own meat is also sold there.
In Summer, the nearest shop is the campground at Waikawau Bay, just 15 minutes away, where the store sells basic essentials.
Top Hut is so beautiful, well kept, lovely and clean, has everything you need and more to make for a rested vacation. Kit greeted us with the most open and loving energy, made us feel right at home. She stocked treats and preserves which were a delight. Located in the most picturesque and natural bushland of Coromandel Peninsula, it was a very restful, replenishing and soul-filling experience.

The extra thought that has been put into getting the most out of your time at top hut really makes it that much better. The pre-stacked fires, marshmellows and homemade baking/preserves were all fantastic and loved our stay.
