Eating and Drinking
Top Hut is self-catering. Just bring your own food, and cook meals using the chiminea, BBQ or hut kitchen. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need, as well as plenty of sauces, seasonings oils and herbs.
You can stock up on supplies at either Colville or Coromandel, about a half-hour drive away. There is a unique community-owned store run by the locals at Colville, with an excellent selection of food and wine. Coromandel town has a large supermarket, and a variety of interesting shops - butcher, bakery, and liquor outlet.
There are several very good restaurants in Coromandel Town, a 35-40 minute drive away, and Colville (close to Coromandel Town) has a friendly little cafe, where the food is very local, homemade and delicious. Good coffee, good ice cream and the farm's own meat are also sold there.
In the summer, the nearest shop is the campground at Waikawau Bay, just 15 minutes away, where the store sells basic essentials.
