Twisted Twig Tent

Twisted Twig Tent

Near Rotorua

Twisted Twig is a hidden gem, just 45 minutes from Rotorua, and only an hour from Tauranga.

Nestled in the midst of native bush, this off-grid retreat accommodates up to four guests. With its thoughtfully designed interiors and extra touches, it's like stepping into a beautiful safari-style home design magazine.

The interior of the tent is split into two rooms, each with a comfortable queen bed.  A wood burner and a cosy couch will make you feel right at home. A mezzanine game area is a great place for a game of Scrabble.

Surrounded by stunning native bush, you can enjoy a peaceful walk and experience glow worms - or even hear kiwi at night. A soak in the dual hot outdoor baths under the stars or toasting marshmallows by the fire is pure bliss.

The beautiful Lake Rotomā is just 10 minutes away, perfect for a picnic and dip on a hot summer's day.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Twisted Twig are Shelwyn and Dave Gardner, along with their furry friends Jessie the Foxy and Lucy the Labrador.

Shelwyn and Dave fell in love with their stunning 20-hectare property and picturesque surroundings 17 years ago, while owning the neighbouring dairy farm.

Inspired by a glamping trip to England in 2015, they restored the old hut on the property and ordered a specialty glamping tent from The Netherlands, which arrived in June 2020. And so Twisted Twig was created.

The name 'twisted twig' was inspired by Shelwyn's walks through the beautiful and wild native bush on the property.
