  • your hosts

Your hosts at Mabel are Rick, Nikki and their children (twins), Remy, and Gracie. While they don't reside on-site, they have partnered with a wonderful local resident from Waipu to look after the place, who also shares their passion for showcasing the natural beauty of her property.

Their decision to settle in or around Waipu stems from their regular travels between Auckland and Langs to visit grandparents, making it an area they know and love.

What they particularly adore about this property is the serene atmosphere down a rural driveway, surrounded by overhanging trees. It's the ultimate peaceful escape from city life.

Rick and Nikki both operate Made by Hideaway, a business specialising in custom-built small structures such as saunas, cabins, and sleepouts. With Rick's 20+ years of experience as a builder and Nikki's background in the interior industry, their collaboration has yielded unique and well-crafted spaces.

In search of a cosy cabin stay in the area and inspired by their love for the outdoors, they decided to design their own dream cabin retreat and share it with others to enjoy.
