Ridge Top Farm is owned and run by Angus and Sarah Gilbertson - with the help of their three young children, Tom, George and Pippa. Part of the original family farm, 'Tapuae', Ridge Top Farm is 1500 acres of truly authentic Kiwi farmland.
Angus grew up in Fielding. After working on several large stations and mustering throughout the North Island, he bought into his mother's family farm 'Tapuae' in 1998, to begin farming his own family land.
Sarah, originally from rural Masterton, met Angus when she was living in Parnell, Auckland. They were married in 2008 and very much enjoy their family life in this peaceful part of rural New Zealand.
In 2012, Sarah and Angus came across the 'glamping' idea - and decided it was something they would love to try on their property. Together, they've created a farm-inspired glamping experience – and with their 1500 acres of rolling farmland, approximately 4,000 sheep, 300 cattle, free range chickens, farm dogs, pet sheep and goats, plus loads of activities, there's no shortage of experiences to choose from!

"We took a girls trip to Ridge Top Farm and none of us wanted to leave! It was the perfect trip away to get off the grid and refresh in nature, while still having a luxurious experience. The four of us stayed for two nights and got to be the first to experience the new hut which is wonderful! Highlights for us were the outdoor fire (and Sarah so thoughtfully provided marshmallows) and the outdoor baths. We were so impressed by the attention to detail and that all the charming farm touches each served a function as well as being just beautiful. Bring your wine and leave your worries - we will certainly be doing it again sometime soon!"

We were so impressed by the thought that had gone into the layout of the facilities which made it suitable for all weather conditions and group size. "Ridge Top Farm was the perfect escape for us for a couple of nights after our wedding in Palmerston North. It was super relaxing just enjoying each other's company, reliving the moments of our big day, playing board games, and bathing in the outdoor bathtubs until the sun had gone down and the stars had appeared. The highlight for us was the delicious food prepared and brought down to us by Sarah. Absolutely loved our time here and would recommend it to all soon to be newly weds!"

We travelled with a party of 4 adults and our 6 year old daughter - everyone was very sad to leave and we will definitely be back. It will be very hard to find another location with such amazing views, a sense of peace and tranquility, outstanding facilities (the cooking and living areas in particular have been well thought out), and I cannot overstate the amazing welcome given by Sarah and her family and of course her totally yummy food that she delivers to your table!"

6 August 2014
"Highlights for us: the FOOD, having no power which meant we spent quality (no phone) time with each other, sitting under the stars in the outdoor baths and the fen for yourself attitude - camping but not full on camping. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back."
Jasmine (30 July 2014)
"Our stay here was better than we'd ever expected. Everything was catered for and the attention to detail was incredible. We were lucky enough to have beautiful clear skies making the 'Glamp and Tramp' a truly unforgettable experience. The views over to Mt Ruapehu were unbelievable, and the delicious vintage style picnic we enjoyed just topped off the experience. Well worth the extra money. The baths under the stars were also a highlight - we'd had cloudy evenings so we weren't expecting to see many stars, but both nights as soon as we settled down with our glasses of wine in the tubs, the clouds parted and the skies were incredible. We could have sat there staring at the stars long after our baths went cold! I've already recommended this place to friends and family - everyone should get to experience this little slice of heaven!"
Amy and Ben (23 July 2014)
"Bliss. This place was like a slice of paradise. Tranquil environment, and good old fashioned fun all rolled into one. The outdoor baths are bliss and the clay shooting so much fun. We are already thinking about booking a trip back with our two boys."
Pip and Stu Lyons (15 July 2014)
"A group of 6 of us went for the best 30th weekend. The farm is gorgeous, the owners are lovely, as is their dog! Highly recommend Clay Bird shooting, even if you're not a shooter, you get really into it. And soaking in the baths!
We made full use of the BBQ and cooked up french toast, burgers and a fry up. It was so lovely snuggling up by the fire, playing games and leaving the real world behind."
Natalie and friends (27 June 2014)
"Even a cold winter weekend this place rocks! The tent gets lovely and warm, the kitchen is well equipped, hot water is hot, baths on starry nights.... and the stars, seriously the stars are amazing!!!"
Susy Carr (4 June 2014)
"The outdoor bathing experience under the stars was amazing, the night was so still and silent, the most relaxing contrast to city life. The privacy was unmatched and the setting beautiful, along with the decor in the tent, kitchen and bathrooms, done so beautifully! We found it hard to leave and wish we had stayed longer! Sarah and Angus were so friendly and thoughtful, we would love to stay again."
Rosa Gould (1 May 2014)

It rained during the night but we remained very warm and snug in our tent and there were plenty of games to keep us entertained. We had a fantastic time. "We had our honeymoon here and loved it. We thought the icy cold weather might dampen our experience but it just made us hunker down in tent by fire and relax. Missed the starry nights...but out of the control of our hosts. Lovely hosts...couldnt do enough for us. Clay target shooting was awesome and we enjoyed petanque and the glamp tramp. Pay the xtra for lunch. Such a nice cosy tent. Really appreciated covered and sheltered dining area."

"What a treat - after our stay at Ridge Top Farm, regular camping will never be the same again! The facilities were spacious, artfully decorated and thoughtfully stocked with all the necessities. We loved roaming the paddocks, sipping red wine in the outdoor tubs and roasting marshmallows on the open fire. The beds were uber comfortable with lots of cozy bedding (which came in handy during cyclonic weather) and the chic canvas tents oozed camping glamour! My sisters and I loved our experience, and are already looking in to when we might be able to return."
