Falcon Ridge

Falcon Ridge

Paraparaumu

Falcon Ridge is located on the Kapiti Coast in Paraparaumu, only 45 minutes from Wellington City.

A stay at Falcon Ridge involves a short hike up a steep hill, but boy is it worth it.  At the top of your climb, you'll find a peaceful off-grid haven designed for couples. Perched on the hills behind Paraparaumu, it offers stunning views across sparkling ocean to the Farewell Spit of the South Island, Kapiti Island, and the hill country of the Tararua Ranges.

The interior of the cabin emanates style and warmth. Adding to its wabi-sabi vibes, the cabin is clad in Yaki Sugi, a traditional Japanese technique that preserves wood through controlled charring.

In addition to the cabin, a covered lean-to space features an outdoor bar counter and a sheltered BBQ station, creating a perfect setting for al fresco cooking.

This is the perfect place to relax and reconnect, surrounded by nature. Enjoy the peace and quiet and watch the sunset light up the sky.

  • things to do

Falcon Ridge is a truly restful place with epic expansive views of Paraparaumu. You'll barely feel the need to leave. If you're not soaking your worries away in the outdoor bath, you may be playing a game of outdoor darts, cards or stretching on the yoga mats while the sun sets.

  • your host

Your host at Falcon Ridge is Paul.

While Paul was scouting out the final build location for his cabin, he heard a distinctive "kek-kek-kek" sound from above. He looked up and saw a pair of New Zealand falcons (Kārearea) swooping noisily overhead.

Paul was excited to see the falcons, as they are a symbol of good luck in Māori culture. It is believed that if a Kārearea flies over you, it is a sign that you will be successful in your endeavours.  Taking this as a favourable omen, Paul chose to name the land project "Falcon Ridge Project" and subsequently, the cabin itself "Falcon Ridge."

Proceeds made from the accommodation will contribute to the regeneration of the native forest throughout the property, allowing you to relax with the satisfaction of knowing your stay has made a positive impact.
